The Ground Breaking Ceremony for Phase 2 extension of the Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA was commenced just a few days by MFMA Development Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Mitsui Fudosan Co, Ltd and Malaysia Airport Holding Berhad, together with Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Dr Ong Hong Peng. This mark the extension to the existing Phase 1 building with approximately 60 more shops and additional 500 car park lots.
Mitsui Outlet Park was officially launched last year on 29th July 2015 as a vision to transform KLIA into a diversified airport city. Upon full expansion, the shopping heaven will occupy a land area of 178,900 m2 and it is the largest outlet mall in South East Asia.
Phase 1 at the moment occupies 128 brand outlets and that includes kioks. The mall also caters to potentially 49 million airport users and 9 million populace within the vicinity.
Phase 2 is slated to be completed by early 2018 with an architectural concept of a “Paradise Village” and new ambient experience with its Sky walk and River Walk themes will be introduced. Sky Walk designs will feature ceilings simulated with clouds where else River Walk resembles a creek. Phase 1 on the other hand was built with thematic designs based on a Sunshine Park, Pier Walk, Beach Walk and Tropical Plaza concept.
Additionally, Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang features flight check-in system and flight information display within the premises of the outlet mall and free baggage storage as well as dedicated shuttle bus services to and from KLIA & KLIA2.
